Day 5 buffalo hunt 29 May

The lion roarsAbove: The huge hunting concession required us to sleep in a dry river bed in order to continue the tracking of the desired buffalo’s. The night was cold and clear. The kions were plentiful and very inquisitive. We were approached by a territorial lion continuously pushing the boundaries of our comfort zone. Fortunately the eager Italian hunter took on the duty (involuntarily) of night watch. Adrenalin levels were high throughout the night.

Guarding against the lion Above: Italian hunter standing guard on a plastic chair with the flash light glued to his head with the ear muffs. Of course he had his trusted 375 H&H by his side.

The sleeping FinnAbove: The adrenalin levels of the previous night took their toll on the Finn. He is sleeping in the bush close to where we found the buffalos earlier.

We were ready to hunt buffalo Above: Large bore rifles etched against the African blue sky. No action today but tomorrow is a new day.

We got ready for dinner Above: The tired Finn (on the left) and the strong Scandinavian Hunter as another wonderful hunting day winds down.
