Pieter Kriel is the most amazing professional hunter in all of Africa. I used him due to a referral from my taxidermist, and I am grateful. Our family had the experience of a lifetime. We brought our teenage son and daughter and they will take home memories that will last forever. We started with a photographic safari in the beautiful Kruger Park. The accommodations were perfect. We had many questions and Pieter answered them all thoroughly. He has extensive knowledge of the animals, plants, birds and the rich history of South Africa. It was very beneficial to our hunt because it was then easy to identify and locate the game on the ranches where we hunted.

Peters’ guiding skills not only enabled us to get exactly what we came for, but more. The food was awesome. Gathering around the campfire every evening was very pleasant. The lodge exceeded our expectations. He put us on some incredible game animals, especially my trophy Warthog. Our safety was never in question. Our needs were always met. He is such a great listener, we did not know, but he found out what we like through conversation. That led us to enjoy a lion breeding, historic plantation, and cultural museum tour along with sightseeing tour of Pretoria.

I know someday I will return and without a doubt, Pieter will be my PH again.

This is to inform you that Lynne and I had the good fortune to experience a ten-day plainsgame hunt with Pieter Kreil as our Professional Hunter. Of the seven trophies taken on this hunt, six qualified for the SCI record book. It should be noted that I am handicapped with an artificial knee and am 65 years of age.

Pieter was very good at finding quality animals while showing the patience Lynne and I required. Pieter was correct in his judgment of the trophy quality in the field and was quite competent in getting us in a position to take the trophy. Pieter was extremely knowledgeable concerning the animals and their habits as well as being quite informative about the various plants and cultures of the area. At no time during the hunt did Lynne or I feel concerned about our well being or safety. Pieter was quite good at making us feel at ease during the idle times of the hunt by answering our questions and telling us about the history of the area and previous hunting experiences.

We highly recommend Pieter Kriel as a Professional Hunter. He was always ready, willing and quite able to satisfy our every request.

Mr. Kriel hosted my hunting partner and myself on a tour of RSA for several days before our hunting trip in 2002. He was a knowledgeable and entertaining tour guide. It would be hard to decide whether our actual hunt or tour with Pieter was more enjoyable.

When I decided to hunt in RSA again in 2004 with my wife and daughter we insisted that Pieter be our PH. We all felt very safe in his care and had a wonderful hunt. His attention to details in planning our hunt, knowledge of African game animals, and knowledge of the different provinces made the trip everything we had wished it could be.

I would like to submit a testimonial for Pieter Kriel. My wife and I have hunted with Pieter Kriel for three years in South Africa. The first year, he was chosen for us as our professional hunter. The following two years we have specifically requested that he be our PH. He is very professional in his conduct. He is courteous, thoughtful, mindful of the needs of his clients in all areas, very careful to make sure everyone enjoys their experience in Africa. He also never engaged himself in conversation that criticized or belittled those around him.

He conducts himself in a very professional manner, in camp as well as in the field. He is very efficient at discovering the needs of the client and taking that into consideration when planning the hunt. He asks about physical limitations, species preferences, method of hunting preferred, then offers the client the hunt of a life time. Pieter is very knowledgeable in the area of local history and this knowledge enhances the hunters overall experience. Along the lines of ethics, he is unsurpassed! He is genuinely concerned about wildlife management, and knowledgeable on the subject. I had the pleasure of hunting with Pieter Kriel on a recent trip to South Africa. This was my first attempt at hunting plains game and also my first trip to South Africa. My wife, Marsha, accompanied me as a non-hunter for the entire trip.
 
I will say hunting with Pieter was a first-rate experience. I was especially appreciative of him keeping us informed about his plans for each day. His knowledge and skills were appreciated numerous times when it came to hunting and tracking the game, answering our many questions about the environment and nature as well as the history of the country. His desire to make the trip memorable and rewarding for us was evident in his selecting trophy quality animals for me to shoot. On occasion, he would locate an animal and say, “We will find you something better.” And he did. Not only was he concerned about the quality of the animal, but also the safety of the hunter and guest.
 
Along with our safety, he personally considered our comforts. He oversaw our every need and more. This did not stop with the end of the hunting day, but continued throughout the evening. We found him very personable, knowledgeable, and humorous to be with. In summary, I can honestly say Pieter represents South Africa well with his professionalism and quality of providing the best hunt possible to anyone with him. I consider him more than a professional hunter. He has become a true friend and I would welcome a hunt with him anytime again.

I have been asked to provide a testimonial for Pieter Kriel. In other similar situations, primarily business and professional, when I have been asked for testimonials/recommendations, I’ve followed the advice I received from my mother. “If you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all.” In that light, I can’t say enough about Pieter Kriel. I’ve hunted several times in Africa with other professional hunters. I can, without any doubt, say that Pieter is the best PH I’ve had the privilege of hunting with. Pieter is one of the most knowledgeable persons I’ve met not only about the animals and type of hunting, but also about the history of the area and wonderful stories.

 In camp, as I’m sure most hunters do when in a group, we would get together after hunting (without the PH around) and discuss the events of the day—what we liked, what we didn’t, what the PH did or didn’t do. Until I had the opportunity to hunt with Pieter, everyone who hunted with him had only wonderful things to say about him.

I had a situation arise on my last trip to South Africa which afforded me the opportunity to hunt/kill a Rhino. Because of the scheduling, I was to hunt with Pieter on this once in a lifetime hunt. Hunting and tracking with Pieter I never felt insecure or intimidated by the overall excitement of the situation. Pieter was always composed, patient and in control. He passed that confidence to me. Pieter had me totally prepared for this amazing hunt. He was an amazing tracker and communicated well with everyone involved in the hunt.

Pieter Kriel never talked down to me or hunted me below my abilities. (This has happened on previous hunts with other professional hunters who seem to assume that a female won’t want to hunt as hard as a male counterpart.) Hunting with Pieter Kriel was a wonderful, memorable experience and I can truthfully say Pieter is the finest PH I have had the opportunity to hunt with.
